Selamat Hari Kaamatan!

Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan!

Wish I was at the Penampang Kadazan Dusun Cultural Center today but work has forced me to miss this year's celebration. Hope those who could make it have fun. To those unfamiliar with Kaamatan it is the month long harvest festival celebrated by the Kadazan Dusuns (the largest ethnic group here in Sabah) culmulating to the two day finale held at here yearly in Penampang. All pictures taken during the 2003 Kaamatan festival, Penampang, Sabah.

Photo credits belong as well to Adrian King

Jeremy, thats an automatic point and shoot digital... And no, Kervin cant afford big aperture prime lenses... You arent playing fair if you are comparing a F1.4 prime lens with a F2.8 zoom lens on a digital.

My photos suffer from that too. Thats why I try to work with macros or single focus point photo to avoid the infinite depth problem...

Sigh yup, it's a fixed lens without the range I truly want, I need a SLR with interchangeable lens for the techniques but am without the cash, dilemma eh.

Kerv... I believe I took the majority of those photos... Of the lizards, the dance and the flea market and the bunch of girls. Only one I am not sure of is whether the photo of the sompotan players were taken by me. I am sure I took some, but not sure if the one you posted is mine. You copyright infringing baka...

What to do sharing camera then, credits given to you mah, though didn't have time to change to copyright. Acknowledged you already, I took two shots there, we took multiples of each subject leh, the girls mostly taken by you and the lizzie.

Ah... The new month brings a new paycheck. I shall appropriate myself a D70s come end of the month, if all goes well. If it goes better than expected, I shall buy a 12-24mm F4 together with a 10.5mm fisheye. I love fisheyes, even with the distortion.

On the other hand, I saw a used Leica MP selling for around 140,000 Yen, which is dirt cheap. Plus it comes along with a 50mm F/1 (wooo!!!) and a 35mm F/2.8.

Ah... Decisions... decisions...

Yeah I know. Its a used unit. New ones go for about 440,000 yen, so thats less than a quarter of the price.

For sure I'll try it out if I ever decide on it. But I seriously think the D70s plus a lens or two makes more sense these days...
