Lensday: Unexpected

Happy

A chance haul gave this lady a huge smile as she reels in her 'catch'. Kasaka, a community based management movement in Pangasingan is actively promoting the sustainable use of their coastal resources which include the setting up of marine protected areas within their barangay, the training of locals by qualified staffs in conservation and management activities as well as a self management committee comprising of locals that seeks a compromise in providing livelihood while ensuring the resources that sustains them will also be enjoyed by generations to come. A commendable effort indeed. Here the pic is taken during the Earth Day exhibition at Bolinao where a booth is set to spread awareness to the locals. Bolinao, Philippines, 2005.
