Oktoberfest at 1 Utama, RM 1 Beer Fest
Limited edition mugs, Oktoberfest, 1 Utama, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Oktoberfest the time to be merry as German's only can with large servings of beer, grub as well as song and dance all around. 1 Utama has organised their annual Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend with loads of activities centering around the concourse at the Rainforest. Tables lined the open air all with white unblemished sheets. Around 4 the booths were starting to become active as the organisers were setting up the various stations. The food booth was busy grilling and barbecuing German sausages, breadswurst, bacons, mash potatoes and thick gravy. The smell of sizzling pork wafted in the air to entice everyone there. Of course what would Oktoberfest be without beer and there were loads of it. Daily, there was a giveaway of RM1 beer to the first 1,000 lucky participants who was seen lining up even as early as 4 and was back for seconds and thirds. The catch, just bring along two 50 cents coins to be eligible.
Elsewhere instead of waiting for the crowd, people could opt for a limited edition beer mug with this year's logo and a whole liter of beer for RM30. Another station was serving the standard beer such as Stella Artois. On stage the German band dressed in traditional German attire and singing boisterously out loud while playing their instruments. They continued to serenade the crowd which was slowly growing, occupying the table as platters of food were finished off and even more copious amounts of alcohol was downed. The band only paused in between songs to cheer everyone on to toast and lift up their glasses. This went on through the night and everyone seem to be having the time of their life even as the weather threatened to rain on their parade. But what is a little rain when you can get RM1 beer right?
