Plastic multi colured cacti?

Cactus02

First there were the plastic palm trees that make no sense whatsoever, now these? I have never understood the logic in installing such fixtures by the traffic junctions. Firstly, in an aesthetic sense they aren’t even that beautiful to begin with, why spend thousands of Ringgit in making plastic palms and even more in maintaining the electricity needed to light up the contraption where as a live palm would be more pleasing, helps in greening the place and is more cost effective? In some sense plastic palms are an eyesore and the only reason I can surmise they construct such a contraption is due to the fact the contract is going to someone inside the council’s contact. The Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan (MPK) has always said they had a policy of greening the town but as of today it seems even more green belts are making way for development. The latest trend now is the installation of plastic cacti for the 2004 Merdeka Celebrations, these located at Jalan Sultan Ismail near Berjaya Megamall Kuantan. If thats not enough their colour schemes are a bit tacky, blue, orange, red and yellow? Pleeeaaassseee! Wish they’d stick to good old live plants for a change.
