Sir's PMS

Mmm my boss once claimed that he does not suffer from mood swings and that those are the only whims of the fairer sex. Yet I can assure you he suffers from male PMS worst than any other ladies I've met there. It sometimes is unpredictable when he would be in a bad mood, one day he can be all cheery and prancing showing you all his new equipment and new lab techniques the next he's biting my head off.

Case in point on Monday. Wasn't really expecting him to be so foul a mood since he just only came back happy from a conference in Kuala Lumpur and my collegues has a nice chat (he detained them for dinner and talked till midnight at his house on Saturday) with him the other day. Just needed his signature for a field work release form and when I bumped into him at the office he just snapped asking me firstly why I was still here and that he though I've already headed to Kudat. I replied that arrangements had changed and that the people would only be visiting the farms the following day thus the 1 day rescheduling. He just huffed.

Next I told him about the price hike of the Unser transport that I usually take from RM15 to RM20. All he had to say he can't do anything about it since he already budgeted the amount early this year. Course I understand but replying so without a warm note just made my day, the only consolation is that there was extra in the budget to cover which means deducting my food expenses.

My collegue also got a tongue lashing. The other day asked sir for a meeting on Monday to discuss her project only to be rebuffed thus morning by him saying, "This evening, I told you the other day that I'll only be free then and I've things to do now". My colleague mentioned later that he just said to meet him on Monday and never once mentioned evening. Thus even in the evening he said he was busy and just gave us a 10 minute audience concerning placements of the newly ordered fishtanks as well as instructions on buying the stands to house them, and about her project tomorrow then.

Heck I even think he's still holding a grudge after I told him I won't be making it to the Phycology forum in Bangkok, since the cost will breach 2K (and my money for the scholarship is still in limbo though my colleague has her's cashed in last week) plus there's only two months to prepare a coherent paper with solid results and sir asked me to concoct an abstract. If it was my project I wouldn't have minded so much like my colleagues but to batch up something on the fly is just not my cup of tea.

Man if that is not a mood swing, I'm a monkey's uncle. Well the day raining so heavily and being gloomy didn't help lighten my mood plus going out for lunch had to settle for leftovers since the UMS population has finally returned and even rice is fast going. To top it up the ticks are finally trying to colonize the inside of the house and had to aggresively spray and pick them out from where they were trying to make a nest in betwee the main door's frame. This really is not a good starter to head of to Kudat, being the start of the monsoon season and all. Sigh.

don't be surprise that sometimes a man's PMS is even worst than a woman! yalah, since women seems to have mood swing more than men, it's kind of like the norm for them but when a man got it... ayoh, better run for cover... because it is not something he got it often.

well i hope all will turn out well at your kudat trip, kervin. moonson season starts now? i thought it's somewhere in octorber or november.

Lucia: Technically it's the intermonsoon season and conditions during this period is signified by absurd changes in weather, also the changing of the winds causes an increase in the west wind and this brings choppy seas and high waves to the South China Seas. The real monsoon is in September onwards.
