A Hut in Rural Sabah

Getting to Simpang Mengayau can be an ordeal in itself but half the journey is getting there. With tar road terminating miles before the actual tip of Borneo, you would have to brave latterite roads which can be treatcherous after bad weather but along the way behold great mountain ranges, scenic kampungs, idylic scenery, great wide stretches of white sandy beaches and rural community life. Here was a small hut by the side of the seaside road and I thought the windswept grass plains and swaying palms added a surreal motion to the rural scene pictured here. Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia, 2006.
